APPLICATIONS FOR SPECIAL STUDENTS FOR THE 2024-2025 FALL SEMESTER
Special Student Applications will be accepted from February 25–28, 2025 (Application deadline: February 28, 2025, at 4:00 PM). Classes will begin on February 17, 2025. Students who have submitted a confirmed application and paid the tuition fee may, if they wish, attend the courses they have selected (until the relevant EYK decision is made). (Students should contact their course instructors for detailed information and support regarding course participation and related procedures.)
Application Process
- Prospective students must first complete the appropriate Application Form electronically and have it approved by the Department of Advanced Energy Technologies. (It must include an OFFICIAL STAMP and SIGNATURE.)
- Since the announcement of closed courses will be made on February 24, 2025, prospective students applying as special students must confirm course capacity with the department and course instructors, taking into account whether the desired course has been closed.
- Applicants applying as special students are required to pay a contribution fee.
- They must contact the tuition office to calculate the tuition fee amount and make the payment via the designated bank.
- Students who have made the payment must obtain a document from the Tuition Office confirming that they have no outstanding balance and submit copies of the documents listed below to the Tuition Office.
- Students who have received approval from their department chairs and the Tuition Office must submit copies of the documents listed below to our institute to complete their application.
Required Documents for Special Student Applications
- Receipt* confirming payment of the contribution fee and one photocopy (the receipt must be submitted to the tuition office, and the photocopy to our Institute)
- A letter of approval issued by the Institute where the student is enrolled regarding the course(s) to be taken at our university (Institute Administrative Board Decision). Once this is forwarded to our university, the special student status will be officially notified to your university in writing.
- Student ID (electronically verifiable or with a wet signature and seal),
- Transcript (electronically verifiable or bearing a wet signature and seal),
- Copy of ID
- FR-0316 Special or Visiting Student Course Registration Form **
**After paying the contribution fee, you must visit the tuition office to have the “No Debt” stamp affixed to the FR-0316 application form.
- Students wishing to enroll in courses taught in English must provide a document demonstrating the English proficiency required for the graduate program
- For international students wishing to enroll in courses taught in Turkish, a TÖMER certificate at a minimum C1 level (provided it was issued by a state university)

Important Notes:
1-) Students applying must complete all procedures listed above between February 25–28, 2025 (Application deadline: February 28, 2025, at 4:00 PM).
2-) In accordance with the Article on Special Student Admission in the YÖK Graduate Education and Teaching Regulations, only students enrolled in a master’s, doctoral, or artistic proficiency program may apply as special students.
ARTICLE 31 – (1) (Amended: Official Gazette – November 22, 2019 – No. 30956) Students enrolled in a master’s, doctoral, or artistic proficiency program may be admitted as special students to graduate-level courses at other higher education institutions with the approval of the department chair of their home institute. Exemption procedures for courses successfully completed by students admitted to graduate-level courses as special students are carried out by the department chair of the institute where they are enrolled. The conditions for admission as a special student and other provisions regarding this matter are determined by the senates of higher education institutions.
ARTICLE 15- (1) Students enrolled in a master’s or doctoral/artistic proficiency program at another higher education institution may apply to the Institute as special students with the approval of the Department Chair of the Institute where they are enrolled. Applicants may be admitted as special students to graduate-level courses upon the recommendation of the Department Chair and a decision by the Institute Executive Board.
(2) Special students may not conduct thesis work and may only take courses from thesis-based graduate programs.
(3) Courses taken as a special student are subject to a fee, and the amount of the fee is determined annually by the University Board of Trustees.
(4) Special students are not entitled to the rights of regular students at the university but may make use of academic facilities.
(5) A special student may take a maximum of 3 (three) courses with local credits per semester.
(6) Special students are subject to the University’s Graduate Education and Teaching Regulations and the Procedures and Principles for Their Implementation. At the end of the semester, these students are issued a document indicating their academic performance.
