Regarding Applications for Our Graduate Programs for the 2026-2027 Fall Semester
Applications will be approved by our Institute within the application timeline. Once your application has been approved by our Institute, you will not be able to make any changes to it. Therefore, please do not complete your application until you have finalized your program choices and preference order. If a mandatory change is required to your application that has already been approved by the Institute, please send an email to tet@yildiz.edu.tr. In this case, your application may be returned to the draft stage. It is the applicant’s responsibility to have applications returned to the draft stage reapproved before the final application deadline.
Applications from candidates applying to graduate programs whose graduation status does not appear in the YÖK system by the final application deadline will be rejected. Applicants who have earned the right to graduate but whose graduation information has not been entered into the YÖK system by their universities by the application deadline must obtain an official letter clearly stating their graduation from their respective universities and submit it in person to our Institute by the application deadline. This official document must be either electronically verifiable or bear a wet signature and seal.

To apply for programs where the language of instruction is Turkish, foreign applicants must hold a C1-level TÖMER certificate issued by the TÖMER/Language Centers of state universities in Turkey or by the Yunus Emre Institute. TÖMER certificates are valid for 2 years.
International applicants who have earned a bachelor’s and/or master’s degree from a program taught in Turkish at a university in Turkey are exempt from the TÖMER C1 certificate requirement. International applicants in this category must complete their applications using e-Government graduation certificates instead of a TÖMER C1 certificate.
Applicants may select a maximum of 2 preferences for master’s programs and a maximum of 1 preference for doctoral programs. The order of preferences is important; the program in which the applicant wishes to enroll first must be listed as the top priority.
For master’s program applications, only one bachelor’s degree record should be included.
For doctoral program applications, one bachelor’s degree record and one master’s degree record (with a thesis) should be included.
For Integrated Doctoral Program applications, only one bachelor’s degree record should be included.If applicants who graduated from higher education institutions abroad cannot provide proof of their GPA for the program they completed in either the 100-point or 4.00-point system, their GPA will be evaluated as 2.00/4.00. Applicants in this situation must apply in person to our Institute before the application deadline, submitting their YÖK equivalency certificate and all other original documents.
To apply for thesis-based master’s programs taught in Turkish, one of the foreign language proficiency requirements listed below must be met. (This paragraph was amended by Senate Resolution No. 10-06 dated December 19, 2024.)
a) Possess a high school, bachelor’s, or graduate degree from an educational institution in a country where English or one of the foreign languages approved for the relevant graduate program—based on the opinion of the Departmental/Program Committee and the decision of the Institute Council—is the official language, and where instruction is conducted in that language,
b) Meet the minimum language score requirement specified for the relevant application period in the central foreign language exams accepted by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM), or have obtained an equivalent score in internationally recognized foreign language exams deemed equivalent,

ARTICLE 12
(1) Students enrolled in thesis-based master’s or doctoral programs at higher education institutions may be admitted to the Institute’s graduate programs through lateral transfer for thesis-based master’s or doctoral programs no later than the end of the second semester. (This paragraph was amended by Senate Resolution No. 10-06 dated December 19, 2024.)
(2) The thesis-based graduate programs eligible for lateral transfer and their quotas are determined based on the opinion of the Department/Division Council, a decision by the Institute Council, and Senate approval.
(3) Applications for lateral transfer must be submitted during the graduate program application periods announced in the academic calendar.
(4) Students who have received disciplinary sanctions or whose enrollment has been terminated due to academic failure may not apply for lateral transfer.
(5) Students seeking lateral transfer to thesis-based graduate programs must meet the minimum application requirements specified for the lateral transfer application period of the relevant graduate program and have a minimum GPA of 3.00/4.00 in the program in which they are currently enrolled.
(6) The duration of study for graduate students transferring from another institution is calculated by including the time spent at their previous university.
(7) Applications are evaluated in accordance with the principles specified in Article 11.

1. Foreign National Applicants Who Have Received an Acceptance Letter for Doctoral Programs from Our University’s Faculty Members
In accordance with the decision adopted by our University Senate at its meeting dated December 19, 2024, No. 10-06,
foreign nationals who have applied to our Institute’s doctoral programs and received a letter of acceptance from a faculty member of our university who will serve as their thesis advisor must register through the OBS application system for the desired doctoral program by 4:00 p.m. on September 16, 2026,00, through the OBS application system for the doctoral program they wish to enroll in; provided they meet the minimum application requirements for the program, they may be admitted outside the quota and without an entrance exam, subject to the opinion of the relevant Department Chair and a decision by the Institute’s Administrative Board. Additionally, applicants who have submitted their applications to the Department Chair must personally present the original copies of their documents to our Institute by the application deadline.

3. Applicants who have completed our university’s undergraduate programs with a GPA of “Honors,” “High Honors,” “Distinction,” or “Third Place” or higher and wish to enroll in our graduate programs

Among our university’s undergraduate graduates:
Those who completed their undergraduate program in the top 3 (three) ranks,
who graduated with high honors,
or, for doctoral or Master of Fine Arts programs requiring an undergraduate degree for admission, those who graduated with honors,
may be admitted to the relevant graduate programs without an entrance exam and outside the regular quota, as decided by the University Executive Board.
Candidates falling under this category must apply to graduate programs during the first semester following their undergraduate graduation, provided that a quota is available, and must have completed their undergraduate studies no later than the eighth (4/8) semester at the latest (for students who have completed their foreign language preparatory instruction in half a semester, their semesters are displayed as 4/9 in the system and are taken into consideration).

STATUSES AND EXPLANATIONS DURING THE APPLICATION PROCESS
Application Sent for Approval: Indicates that the applicant has completed their application.
Sent for Evaluation: Indicates that the application has been approved by the Institute.
Application Information Is Incorrect, Please Correct: Indicates that the Institute has requested corrections if there are errors or missing information in the student’s application during the approval phase.
Rejected: Indicates that the application has been rejected.
APPLICATION PREFERENCE EVALUATION PROCESS
On the date specified in the Institute’s academic calendar, the Institute automatically conducts the evaluation through the system based on all data (ALES, YDS, AGNO, and Entrance Exam Score). Rankings and placement results are generated by the system, and successful candidates are determined by the system. This evaluation process is conducted for candidates who have completed their applications fully and accurately, whose applications have been approved by the Institute, and who have taken the entrance exam.
REGISTRATION
WAITLIST EVALUATION
Once primary enrollment is complete, a reserve evaluation round will be conducted to fill the remaining vacancies. During the reserve enrollment periods, candidates must log in to the OBS system and complete the enrollment process themselves.
A candidate who is placed in their first choice as a primary placement will not have their second choice considered, regardless of whether they complete registration during the primary registration dates or not. Therefore, candidates who wish to begin their education must complete registration for their primary placement within the registration schedule.
A candidate who was not placed in their first choice but was placed in their second choice as a primary placement will not have their first choice considered for the waitlist, regardless of whether they complete registration or not. Therefore, candidates who did not secure their first choice but were placed in their second choice as a primary placement must complete registration within the registration dates. The rules outlined above apply in full to the evaluation of waitlisted candidates for any remaining vacancies.
GRADUATE ADMISSION, ACCEPTANCE, EVALUATION, AND REGISTRATION PRINCIPLES
Matters Requiring the Candidate’s Attention
ARTICLE 10- (1) Only one undergraduate degree certificate should be submitted with a master’s degree application.
(2) For a doctoral program application, one undergraduate degree and one thesis-based master’s degree must be included.
(3) For an integrated doctoral program application, only one bachelor’s degree certificate should be submitted.
(4) Applicants may select a maximum of two preferences for master’s programs and a maximum of one preference for doctoral programs. The order of preference is binding.
(5) Applicants who graduated from universities abroad will have their grade point averages accepted as 2.00/4.00 if they cannot provide AGNO certification. These applicants are required to apply in person within the application period, along with their YÖK equivalency certificate.
(6) The ALES requirement does not apply to applicants holding a doctoral degree, a Master of Fine Arts degree, a medical specialty degree, a dental specialty degree, a veterinary specialty degree, or a pharmacy specialty degree who are applying to master’s or doctoral programs. The University Senate has set the ALES score requirement at 75 points.
(7) No refunds will be issued to students who have earned the right to enroll and paid the tuition fee but subsequently withdraw voluntarily, waive their right to enroll, or have their enrollment canceled.
(8) Applications from candidates who submit false information or documents will be rejected.
